Middle States Accreditation
Preston High School underwent accreditation review by the Middle States Association in December 2008. Based on their findings, our accreditation has been renewed through April 2016.
In the Middle States Validation Team’s report issued in May 2009, they made special note of the way Preston’s mission infuses its educational and co-curricular program: “While many schools require service, Preston builds its service program around its mission of compassion as evidenced in its largest service organization, Compassion Connection. The Validation Team found this to be one of the unique identifiers of Preston because compassion is more than a word for this community. The Validation Team found that the concept of compassion and the lived reality permeate the entire community” (p. 5).
- In evaluating our academic program specifically, the Validation Team commended Preston, “for their rigorous academic program which, in the words of an alumna, ‘is made manageable by Preston’s familial atmosphere” (p. 48).
- Likewise, in evaluating the quality of Preston’s faculty and staff, the Team extolled “the involvement of the faculty and staff in the life of the school; every stakeholder group praised the dedication and presence of the faculty as well as their professional expertise” (p. 48).
- In recommending re-accreditation, the Validation Team summed up the Preston community in these words: “We were impressed by the degree of participation in the total life of the school by all stakeholder groups. Preston is student-centered within a strong and supportive environment. From artists to athletes, from Gospel Choir to Compassionate Connection, from Emmaus to Angel Tree, from Preston Echoes to THE WIZ and myriad other curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities – you keep the mission central and the spirit vibrant. We applaud you for recognizing not only great accomplishments but also participation and service. Panther Pride is enthusiastic, passionate and infectious!” (p. 68).
